Dream Clean Up

Dream Clean Up Logo

Dream Clean-Up is an extension I created for Adobe Animate inspired by Toon Boom Harmony’s long-envied Cutter Tool and brings a similar system for Clean Up into Adobe Animate.

Clean up your animation fast! Select and delete any overhanging brush lines. Similar to Toon Boom Harmony’s Cutter tool or Adobe Illustrator’s Knife Tool! The Brush Off Cuts script breaks apart Object Drawings but identifies and keeps the intersections, allowing you to select each ‘off-cut’ and delete it easily. It allows animators to clean up their fine line work quickly, without having to grab vertices or enter object drawings. This tool was inspired by the Cutter tool in Toon Boom Harmony and the Knife Tool in Adobe Illustrator, but it gives the operator the same level of control over brush fills that was previously only possible using pen or pencil strokes.

Presenting: Dream Clean-Up

FAQ

Q. I have purchased Dream Clean-Up from Adobe Creative Cloud but am having problems installing it! Can you help?

A. Yes! All the instructions you need are in the installation guide above but for a little extra context. Unlike Extensions for other programs in the Adobe suite, plugins for animate cannot be automatically installed by Creative Cloud (at least as far as I know!). There is a process that must be undertaken where you manually place the files inside the downloaded .zxp into the Commands folder of your version of Adobe Animate (there are more detailed instructions for how to do this in the Installation Guide). If you haven’t done this, the plug-in is not installed, no matter what Adobe Exchange will try to tell you.

Q. The .zpx file appears to be corrupted! What can I do?

This is a funny problem that pops up from time to time on some computers and not others. However as this is becoming a very common issue. As of December 21st 2023, I have updated the files on Creative Cloud with a new version that should download and a new manifest that should help Creative Cloud with the installation. Just in case, here are some solutions:

  1. Try downloading the zxp a second time.

2. The zip/zxp reader you are using may be struggling with the file. I can confirm that in the past WinRar has opened the .zxp and the .zip nested inside flawlessly.
